Which Xbox Consoles Can Play GTA 6?
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The Xbox Store lists "XBOX Series X|S" as the only Xbox platform and tags the game "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S."
Take-Two's announcement gives the same November 19, 2026, date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so Xbox players don't wait longer than PlayStation players.
| Platform | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X | Supported | Xbox Store |
| Xbox Series S | Supported | Xbox Store |
| PS5 | Supported | Rockstar Support |
| PS5 Pro | Listed as "PS5 Pro Enhanced" | PlayStation Store |
| Xbox One | Not on any official list | Rockstar Support |
| PS4 | Not on any official list | PlayStation Store |
| PC | Not announced | Rockstar |
Is GTA 6 on Xbox One or PS4?
Neither console appears on any official list. Rockstar Support says, "You can pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S," and the PlayStation Store lists PS5 as the only platform.
We found no Rockstar statement that says "not on PS4" or "not on Xbox One" in those words. The old consoles are simply missing from every list. If you own an Xbox One, you need a Series X or Series S to play at launch. On PlayStation, you need a PS5.
Will GTA 6 Be Crossplay?
Rockstar has not announced crossplay. Both stores describe GTA VI as single-player, so there is no announced mode where Xbox and PS5 players would meet.
The PlayStation Store says "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience" and lists "1 player." The Xbox Store lists "Single player" and does not mention multiplayer or crossplay. Take-Two also calls the $79.99 game "a single-player experience." Rockstar has announced no online mode. If it announces one later, crossplay becomes a live question, and we will update this page.
What Should Series S Owners Know?
Series S runs GTA VI, and its storage is the main thing to plan for. Microsoft lists the Series S with a 512GB or 1TB SSD, 10GB of memory, and a 1440p gaming resolution target.
The Series X page lists 1TB and 2TB models and "TRUE 4K" gaming. Neither store page we checked lists GTA VI resolution or frame-rate targets for either console, so don't trust a performance figure until Rockstar publishes one. No store lists an official file size either. Clear as much space as you can before preload, especially on a 512GB Series S.
The Series S has no disc drive, but that doesn't matter here. Rockstar Support says the boxed version holds a download code, and "A disc will not be included in the box."
How Do Pre-Orders and Preload Work on Xbox?
Pre-order through the Xbox Store or redeem a boxed code before launch, and the game preloads from November 12. Rockstar Support says preload begins "at local midnight on November 12, 2026," and codes redeemed before launch start preloading that day.
The Xbox Store prices the Standard Edition at $79.99+, the Ultimate Edition at $99.99+, and the Ultimate Edition Upgrade at $20.00. Buy before November 19, 2026, at 23:59:59 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+, which you must redeem within 180 days of your pre-order. The product page does not mention Game Pass, and no Game Pass release has been announced.
